A Letter from our President
Dear Prospective Benefactor:
The Martin Community Players is embarking on its 38th season of providing live theatre for the citizens of Martin County. The Players have chosen entertaining productions for this season! Our 2019-2020 Season begins with the Martin Community Junior Players presenting "Aladdin." This performance will be followed by the Martin Community Players fall/winter production of the drama "Rexes Exes." Our Spring Musical will be "The Sound of Music" with live orchestration.
The Martin Community Players is a non-profit organization that produces stage plays each year for the citizens of Martin and the surrounding northeastern North Carolina Counties. The Martin Community Players performed for over 1,400 patrons at the Martin County Auditorium and with your help, plans to continue its mission of bringing live theatre at a minimal cost to the citizen of Martin County and the surrounding region.
In past years, the Martin County Board of Commissioners has subsidized the Players with funding, but funding has been increasingly difficult to procure. Now, more than ever, we rely on benefactor contributions as a main funding source. Depending on your level of contribution, your donation bay be tax deductible.
The actors, actresses and stage crew give freely of their time and talent for many weeks of rehearsals for each production. They, as well as the board members and other volunteers, provide hundreds of hours of their free time building sets, painting scenery, making costumes and props, as well as designing and running lights and sound to keep production costs at an absolute minimum. Despite these cost savings, the Players still lose more than $5000.00 each budget year due to royalties, script fees, orchestra fees, set costs, as well as costume and props costs. Therefore, it is easy to see Martin Community Players literately cannot exist without the help of its Benefactors.
The Martin Community Players theatre group is a unique treasure that most communities our size do not have the ability to enjoy. Moreover, we are the only community theatre in the immediate area with a continuous production record for more than a third of a century. We cannot emphasize strongly enough; what the Players provide the the community exist only through your generosity. Please help us by making your contribution today...and help keep the theatre arts alive here in Martin County.
Warm Regards,
Penny Cowan
